I've had PT before and it didn't work. Why should I try PT again?
Dr. Blackman and Dr. Walls have guided youth athletes, collegiate athletes and many adult athletes to their goals of returning to functional pain-free activity.
We understand that athletes come in all ages and ability levels. We also understand that as we age, the demand on the body changes and requires more understanding and preparation. Recovery from an injury means something different to every individual and we tailor our treatment to YOUR goals, not those that insurance has determined is ”good enough” for you.
As a 2 sport collegiate athlete, Shana has personally experienced the benefits and challenges of recovery from injury through Physical Therapy. She holds a special area of interest in working with baseball, soccer, volleyball and basketball athletes.
Cathy is an experienced PT as well as a passionate and experienced runner. She specializes in training running athletes to stay pain-free and keep them on the road!
Dr. Walls is an experienced and passionate Physical Therapist in evaluating the biomechanical strengths and limitations of runners to keep them on the road!
This special training program includes a 90 minute PT and Running Video Analysis with instruction by Dr. Walls in how to help you meet your goals.
This evaluation is then followed up with 2 training sessions tailored to your needs to include exercises specific to your results.
Lastly, you will meet with Dr. Walls for re-evaluation of your mechanics to track your progress.
This program is designed not only for the injured or painful runner, but also runners that desire to improve their efficiency, speed, or other goals that you set together with Dr. Walls.
Dry needling is an excellent adjunct treatment to other therapeutic treatment. Dry needling uses acupuncture needles to provide a deep release to painful trigger points in the muscle tissue. Some of the benefits include: decreased pain, increased range of motion and improved muscle relaxation.
Functional tissue mobilizaation is a broad term that incorporates multiple hands on techniques to identify tissue restriction in muscle, tendon, fascia, and joint tissue, and release these barriers to proper movement. There are many different techniques that functinal tissue mobilization encompasses. At MyPT, we use a variety of techniques to improve your tissue mobility and then retrain your movement to diminish the risk of injury/re-injury.
Dr. Blackman and Dr. Walls have been making custom foot orthotics for the past 10 years. Just making an impression of your foot may not result in the best orthotic for you to improve your pain! A full biomechanical evaluation and a detailed physical exam inform the creation of your orthotic to give you the results you’re looking for.
